Event Platform Info + FAQs

The 2020 Texas Assessment Conference/TACTP Conference will be conducted virtually November 16-17, 2020. We will use the Hopin virtual conference platform so we can bring you the amazing speakers, networking, expo booths, breakout sessions, and the fortuitous random “run-ins” that happen at physical events. The difference is you don’t need to travel to Austin or book a hotel to show up!

Attendee Quick Reference Guide

Join from laptop or PC. We recommend attending the Texas Assessment Conference through your laptop/PC, rather than your mobile device, for the best experience.

Use Google Chrome as your browser.
You must use Chrome as your web browser to access all the features of the conference platform. If that’s not already your default browser, be sure to download it. Pro tip: Make sure your browser is up to date.

Check your internet speed. We recommend a minimum of 5mbps download and 2mbps upload. Ideally, we like to see 30mbps download and 10mbps upload or higher for the best quality. Test your speed here.

Restart your computer before joining the event. This ensures that there are no other video applications holding onto audio or video for any reason.

Please use headphones when participating on-screen. This will help eliminate echo and feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? The answer might just be here. If not, visit the Help Desk inside the Hopin platform.

This is the first time I’ve used the Hopin platform. What do I need to know?

As a new Hopin user, log onto www.hopin.com and create an account. Be sure to use the SAME email for your account that you used to register for the conference and create your password. Also, please use Google Chrome to access the conference.

I’ve logged out of Hopin without resetting my password and now it will not let me back in without my password?

Click on the “Forgot your password?” link on the sign-in page and follow the instructions to reset your password.

What browser works best with the Hopin virtual event platform? Are there any other technical requirements?

Make sure you are using a compatible browser. Hopin works best in Chrome. You will also want to make sure your browser is up to date, and your internet or mobile hot spot is reliable.

You will need headphones or built-in/external speakers to listen to all presentations.

Please be sure your district’s IT department allows Hopin and Vimeo through the firewalls and/or on your district-issued device.

What do I do if I can see but not hear the speakers?

Try refreshing the session or logging out and logging back into the platform. Sometimes this helps get things back to normal.

You will need headphones or built-in/external speakers to listen to all presentations.

How can I better see the presenter slides in my session?

You can control the view in sessions by double-clicking on a particular camera or screen so that it takes up most of the viewing area. Good for particularly hard-to-read slides!

Can I go back and re-watch sessions or watch recordings of sessions I missed?

YES! All Texas Assessment Conference Sessions will be recorded and available for 60 days after the event in a password-protected Vimeo Showcase. On Wednesday, November 18, following the conference, you will receive an email from Vimeo (no-reply@vimeo.com) that says “Texas Assoc of School Admin shared a Showcase with you on Vimeo.” That email includes a link to the online showcase of session recordings. The email also includes (look for the red text) your personalized password to access the video showcase. You may access the video showcase through Tuesday, January 19. All recorded sessions may be used to obtain credit. Please note that videos are being uploaded as quickly as possible; however, all session recordings may not be available in the Showcase until Friday, November 20.

Where can I find the credit hour reporting form to record the sessions I attended?

You can download the Verification of Contact Clock Hours form here.

Where is the Exhibitor Help Desk?

The Exhibitor help desk located in the Expo Hall. Simply click on the Expo Hall icon on the left side of your screen when you’re in the Hopin platform and scroll the bottom booth.
